Scottishsalmon

“Against the Current”

This piece was made for the 2009 Scottish Glass Society 30th Anniversary Exhibition. The theme for the exhibition was migration and my piece depicts the journey of the salmon as it battles upriver to the spawning grounds. The piece comprises of 3 main organically shaped stained glass panels mounted in a large piece of ash wood.

“Wooly Jumpers”

A fun piece made for a local exhibition where the theme was inspired by sheep. This piece depicts the each sheep as made from one long piece of brightly coloured wavy wool. The sheep were etched into the surface of a large fused glass disc then the whole piece was fire polished for a glossy finish.

“Murmurations”

This piece was made for a pop-up artist led exhibition in Glasgow’s Govanhill baths entitled “The Steamie Galleries.” The piece is inspired by Starling murmurations. It was made by layering several pieces of hand painted glass to create depth and the chaotic beauty of the birds in flight.

“The Moment Will Soon Die”

Inspired by the Dylan Thomas poem, “The force that through the green fuse drives the flower.” The poem is full of rich imagery about the natural forces that create life and also ultimately destroy it. My piece features a clock face as its centrepiece whose hands are a pair of scissors destined to clip of the head of the beautiful rose.

One of a series of small nature studies mounted in wooden bases. This piece depicts flowers silhouetted against the light of the moon on a starry night. It has a hidden message that can only be found when the panel is lifted out of its wooden base.

This is a small panel featuring a thistle design. The purple thistle flowers are made from 2 blue and pink plated glasses to create a delicate downy look.

One of a series of small nature studies mounted in wooden bases. This one features a glowing patch of purple blue mushrooms and is framed in an organically shaped wooden base with natural bark still intact.

One of a series of small nature studies mounted in wooden bases. This one is inspired by Celtic fairy rings and has a hidden message that can only be found when the panel is lifted out of its wooden base.
